The Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Cranes fell to the Riverview Gabriel Richard Pioneers 48-44 in a tough battle Saturday. Cranbrook moves to 4-3 on the season, while Gabriel Richard moves to 5-2 for the year.

Senior Cam Garner had 20 points to lead all scorers in the Cranes in the loss at home. Senior Mike Holdsclaw had 17 points to lead the Pioneers.

Senior Miles Pistner contributed 11 points for Cranbrook, while Senior Drew Daiek added 14 to Gabriel Richard’s effort.

The Pioneers led from the start as Holdsclaw and Daiek set a fast pace. Garner and Pistner kept the Cranes in the game in the first half with a couple of 3-point shots.

Cranbrook trailed 37-29 at the half.

The second half saw the Cranes work back into the fight with senior Bryce Hall and sophomore John Kersh sinking key field goals in the paint.

But Gabriel Richard would answer from beyond the arc while getting points from the charity stripe down the stretch. Holdsclaw and Daiek continued with consistent shooting to put the game out of reach for Cranbrook.

These two teams will play again Thursday as Cranbrook goes on the road to meet Riverview Gabriel Richard at home. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
