Cranbrook defeats Royal Oak Shrine 63-57 in Saturday CHSL matchup

The Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Cranes pushed past the Royal Oak Shrine Knights 63-57 in a CHSL Intersectional I battle Saturday. Cranbrook moves to 5-4 on the season, while Shrine moves to 3-8 for the year.

Senior Cam Garner had 29 points to lead all scorers in the Cranes in the win on the road. Senior Ben Plankey had 18 points to lead the Knights.

Senior Miles Pistner and sophomore John Kersh contributed 11 points and 10 points for Cranbrook, respectively. while junior Jeff Andrus added 12 points to Shrine’s effort.

The Cranes led from the start as Garner and Pistner set a fast pace with several 3-point shots in the first half. Plankey and Anders kept the Knights in the fight with a couple of 3-point shots of their own, but remained behind in the match.

Cranbrook led 36-24 at the half.

The second half saw the Cranes push the game at the steady pace with senior Bryce Hall and sophomore John Kersh sinking key field goals in the paint.

The Knights answered from beyond the arc with seven 3-pointer shots and getting additional points from junior Stephen Ruhle. But it would not be enough as the game fell out of reach for Shrine.

Cranbrook goes on to meet Madison Heights Bishop Foley at home, while Shrine travels across town to meet Royal Oak High.
