I feel my mental state throughout the season and on Friday nights separates me from the rest. At the end of the day your team is what’s most important, not your individual accolades. The teammates that allow the others to push blame and not be accountable for mistakes are ones that lead the way to a broken season, and my goal on varsity has been to try to change a negative environment that has been existent for several years previous. Supporting and helping your teammates drive towards success is something I’ve felt that I’ve done well, even when our situation may be difficult. Positive minds lead to positive play, and that is a focal point in football that I’ve had my eyes set on since the very beginning.
I believe I have a high football IQ, and each season is an opportunity to learn and grow. I also believe I practice with the same intensity that I play, so that way I am constantly pushing myself at the highest level. In addition, I feel I am a powerful runner with ability to charge through tackles and bring defenders with me down the field.
Through my four years of high school football, I have had the ability to play on offense, defense, and special teams. This has allowed for me to have a widespread understanding of how each aspect of the game is played, and has taught me that every position on the field at any given time is crucial to the success of the team. Additionally, I concluded my senior season with most rushing yards and most touchdowns in our side of the Saginaw Valley League. This all made for a very humbling senior year experience.
I am very interested in playing at the next level, as it has been a goal of mine ever since I started playing in the 4th grade. I have since worked very hard to achieve that goal, and I have now reached a point where that goal is on the verge of becoming reality. I would like coaches to know that I’m very dedicated and committed to the game of football, and I’m willing to do all that is required to succeed. I am also willing to learn and work do to what it takes to be a contributing player at the college level.
After my senior season, I was the top rusher in the Saginaw Valley League Blue. I was awarded AP All-State honorable mention at the running back position. I was later awarded Saginaw Valley League All-Academic team and unanimous Saginaw Valley League All-Conference 1st team running back. I was also voted by my team as Most Outsdanding Offensive Player.
