West Michigan Top Prospects of 2022 (20-16)

Yesterday, I released the back end of my top 25 players in the 2022 class from West Michigan. Today, we'll take a look at guys ranked 20-16. Be sure to check back in tomorrow for players ranked 15-11.

16. Gabe Newhof, 6’8 F, Unity Christian

There’s a lot to like about Gabe’s game, given his height, athleticism, and the big jump his overall game saw in his junior year. Gabe is a physical presence at 6’8 and should be even stronger after a summer of workouts. Gabe is a notable rim protector and does a great job of defending without fouling. On offense, Gabe has displayed solid footwork, highlighted by an up-and-under move that pays off with consistency. What stands out most about Gabe’s game is his motor and willingness to get out in transition. He’s also shown he can handle the ball given the opportunity and can finish drives through traffic.

17. Brayden Gable, 6’4 G, Grandville

Brayden is an athletic guard who moves with great pace with the ball. What stands out most about Bradyen’s game is his slashing ability on offense. He’s a gifted dribbler who has great vision and does a good job of finding lanes in the defense and attacking the paint. What makes Brayden hard to guard is his ability to absorb contact, hang in the air, and finish highly-contested shots in the lane. Going into his senior year, Brayden will have the opportunity to be one of the better scoring guards in the OK Red.

18. Brayden Wilkerson, 6’1 G, NorthPointe Christian

Brayden is one of the best shooters in the area regardless of class and he excels at creating his shot off isolation sets. Brayden has a solid variety of moves he uses to find an open shot, with his step-back jumper being one of the cleanest I’ve seen from any guard in the state from the 2022 class. Defensively, Brayden plays with good energy, moves well laterally and has quick, active hands. This allows Brayden to create havoc on defense, leading to transition opportunities for NorthPointe.

19. Brady Bosma, 6’4 G, West Otatwa

Brady is a gifted scorer, especially off the dribble. He’s flashed a spin move in transition that consistently puts him in the position to score. In the halfcourt, Brady does a good job of leveraging position and sealing off defenders for looks inside the three-point line. Brady has also shown to be a competent shooter from the perimeter and can knock down shots both off the dribble and in spot-up situations. Expect Brady to be a go-to scorer for West Ottawa next season.

20. Owen Hardy, 6’9 F, Forest Hills Eastern

Owen is a lanky big man who is still developing into his fame and should be a physical presence as he enters his senior season. Owen has proved to be a plus rebounder who attacks the glass with a consistent motor. He’s flashed good athleticism in the post and an ability to finish above the rim with consistency. Defensively, Owen does a good job of sliding to help side and defending the rim. He’s got good enough footwork to keep guards in front of him when he switches off and uses his length to block or alter shots effectively.
