Essexville-Garber 2018 TE/WR Ben VanSumeren was fresh off his official visit to Iowa from this past weekend and with 6 days before signing day, the home state program, Michigan Wolverines finally turned their head to VanSumeren and offered the 6'3" 235 TE/WR prospect.

VanSumeren finished his senior season with an incredible 85 receptions which are good enough to finish tied 9th overall in a single season, but VanSumeren is the only player to have that many receptions in a 9 game schedule, the rest in the pack played in 10+ games.

VanSumeren told The D Zone he needs to spend more time with his family to discuss his next move, as the Wolverines are pushing to get him to take an official visit this upcoming weekend.

Essexville-Garber Head Coach Jake Coquillard commented on VanSumeren's work ethic, "Ben’s is an absolute relentless workout warrior! He lifts twice a day if he can and he understands that if he wants to be the best, you have to put in the hard work. He also, catches 100 passes every day, eats 6,000 calories a day and goes to bed usually around 9pm. He sleeps with a football, he buckles a football and buckles it in tothe passenger seat of his car. He wants to be the best!"

Stay tuned for more on the aftermath of this offer and more as we approach the early signing day on December 20th-22nd.
