Chippewa Valley 2019 OLB Marcel Lewis committed to Michigan State University on Wednesday afternoon.

The 6'2 200 lbs OLB prospect has been an instrumental piece for the Big Reds defense as he has the size and versatility to move around on defense to cause problems. Offensively Lewis plays as well and he had key plays in the Big Reds playoff run this past year.

With the size and speed of Lewis, he picked up offers from schools like; Michigan State, Michigan, Kentucky, Iowa State, Minnesota, Syracuse, and Iowa. Lewis also took a visit a few weeks ago to Ohio State, but didn't receive an offer.

Lewis entered the recruiting scene at Camp Pride in 2017 as basically a little known recruit, but was a top performer in the camp that featured over 60 Division 1 recruits. Lewis' performance in the camp left a lasting impression, but he didn't draw the offers his talent implicated through the Spring, Summer, and Fall of 2017.

As a junior during the 2017 season, Lewis earned his first Power 5 offer from Iowa State.

It wasn't until January 2018 that more colleges started noticing Lewis and began offering Lewis, as Michigan State offered him on January 13th. From January 13th to February 2nd, Lewis earned 13 offers.
