West Michigan Roundup, Wednesday 1/19/22

We only had two games on the schedule for Wednesday, both featuring small schools in southwest Michigan.

Eau Claire 72, Colon 59

In a battle of unbeaten programs, Eau Claire came away with a double-digit home victory. Simon Vinson did everything he could for Colon leading the Magi with 29 points while Damarion Travis led Eau Claire with 25 points. Colon entered the game ranked #7 in the AP Poll for Division 4 while Eau Claire was unranked, but received votes. Eau Claire improved to (6-0) and will certainly be ranked if they can defeat New Buffalo on Friday at home. Colon drops to (7-1) ahead of their pivotal conference matchup against (7-1) Bellevue on Friday.

Bloomingdale 61, Mendon 39

In a Southwest 10 conference makeup game, Bloomingdale handily defeated Mendon. Bloomingdale earned their second win of the season improving to (2-5) while Mendon dropped to (1-6). Bloomingdale will look to make it two in a row on Friday against winless Bangor while Mendon will host (2-4) Decatur.

Note:
I will be in attendance for tonight’s SMAC showdown between surging teams Kalamazoo Central and Battle Creek Central.
