West Michigan Roundup, Monday 2/7/22

Southwest MI

Buchanan 51, Centreville 48

  • Buchanan continues to stay hot winning their eighth straight game and ending Centreville’s eight-game winning streak. The Bucks have been unstoppable over the past month with the emergence of Ryan Young as one of the area’s best players. Young led Buchanan with 19 points on the night. After moving down to Division 3 this season the Bucks should have a chance to make a run in the postseason. Next up for Buchanan is a home game against Eau Claire on Wednesday.

Coldwater 56, Portage Northern 48

  • Coldwater defeats Portage Northern in a home non-conference matchup to improve to (11-1). Brandon Downs led the Cardinals with 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists. Coldwater senior star Ethan Crabtree went down with an apparent knee injury early in the game which is of major concern for Cardinals fans. The small victory may have been the result of a “look-ahead” game for Coldwater with De La Salle on the docket for Tuesday followed by a pivotal conference game against Marshall on Friday.

Eau Claire 50, Lake MI Cath. 41

  • Eau Claire defeats Lake MI Cath. by nine points to improve to (9-2) on the season. The Beavers will have a tough matchup on Wednesday against the scorching hot Buchanan Bucks.

WM Hornets 51, South Haven 48

  • South Haven was narrowly defeated by the West Michigan Homeschoolers and dropped to (2-10) on the season. The Rams have now lost eight straight games but will have a chance to break the streak against Division 4 Michigan Lutheran on Wednesday.
