Waterford Mott football players recovering after getting hit by drunk driver (Story)
Waterford Mott is one of the quickest rising programs in the state as Head Coach Chris Fahr had the Corsairs as a top 15 team in the state during the 2017 season. They eventually fell to the Division 1 runner-ups West Bloomfield in the playoffs.
The off-season has been very productive for the program as players across all levels have been working hard in the weight room since the season ended.
On Friday afternoon following a workout, three players; Matt Castillo, Keimonnee Fields, and Alex Rodriguez were driving to get food when a drunk driver crossed the line and struck their vehicle.
Alex’s injuries are severe but he is getting better daily and as this story was published we were told he was leaving the ICU but is still recovering in the hospital. Keimonnee and Matt were treated and are just working through the bumps and bruises and the mental and emotional part of it.
Rodriguez plans to be a Marine following college and Castillo & Fields are football recruits who on Thursday just 6 days following their crash, worked out at the Legacy Center in front of college coaches.
A GoFundMe page for Alex exceeded the goal of $8,000.
The drunk driver is currently being held on a $500,000 bond in the Oakland County Jail.
