With a distinguished background in both playing and coaching basketball, Johnson brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and leadership to Traverse City Central Boys Basketball. As a standout athlete, Johnson showcased his talent and dedication on the court throughout his four years of college basketball at Central Michigan University.

Following his collegiate career, Johnson transitioned into coaching, spending three impactful years as an assistant on the boys varsity basketball team at Cadillac High School. During this time, he honed his coaching skills, mentored young athletes, and contributed to the team’s success both on and off the court.

Johnson’s journey then led him to Elk Rapids High School, where he assumed his first varsity coaching role. Over the course of seven seasons, he demonstrated exceptional leadership and coaching prowess, leading the program to new heights and fostering a culture of excellence, integrity, and sportsmanship. In addition to coaching boys basketball, Johnson also coached varsity boys tennis for 14 years and varsity track for four years.

“I am truly honored and excited to be a part of the coaching community here at Traverse City Central,” said Johnson. “I am committed to building a program that not only strives for success on the court but also prioritizes the holistic development of our student-athletes as individuals and members of our community.”

As the newest addition to the Traverse City Central High School coaching staff, Johnson hopes his experience, expertise, and dedication will inspire and empower the boys basketball team to reach new levels of achievement and excellence.
