This fall’s game between Fowlerville HS and Williamston HS will benefit VetLife
Fowlerville, Mich. -- The first ever Fowlerville vs. Williamston Military Appreciation Night benefit Football Game will be held Friday, September 23rd at 7:00 P.M at Brigham Field to benefit Vetlife (https://www.vetlifetoday.org).
MISSION:
To provide veterans with sustainable solutions while promoting a safer, healthier, and prosperous civilian lifestyle.
VETLIFE offers a variety of resources, programs, and events to veterans and their families all at no cost.
VETLIFE is a nonprofit organization formed in 2018 by veteran families for veteran families. The organization was born out of our own struggles after leaving the military. We became painfully aware of so many other veterans who were facing the same struggles. The large number of veterans unaware of benefits and the rising number of veteran suicides really bothered us, so we formed a nonprofit organization with the purpose of promoting a safer, healthier, and prosperous civilian lifestyle. This is how the name "VETLIFE" came to fruition. VETLIFE is about living your best life after the military. We provide veterans with a network of sustainable solutions and resources to improve the quality of civilian life. Our events are completely free to veteran families and promote a sense of camaraderie among other veterans while also providing valuable veteran specific resources. We pride ourselves on being attentive to any and all veteran needs.
The Fowlerville team will wear special, commemorative jerseys. As part of the fundraising effort, the jersey sponsorships were sold to sponsor an active duty soldier or veteran. Those names will be worn on the backs of the jerseys during the game. Following the game, the players will present their game-worn jersey to their sponsors in an on-field ceremony; each soldier’s name will be read, along with a brief history of their service.
Leading up to the game fans will have the opportunity to explore a variety of military activities. The pre-game includes the Presentation of Colors, followed by the National Anthem performed by the Fowlerville Marching Band.
Individuals wishing to make a donation can do so in person at the game as well as by mail. There will be a loose change donation during the game and food donations will be collected for VetLife Harvest for Heroes Thanksgiving Feast- Items sought are canned corn, canned green beans, gravy, boxed potatoes, and boxes of stuffing.
