Division 3 State Championship game:

The #2 ranked, Muskegon Big Reds won their first two games of the year vs. King and De La Salle and as expected are here today, ready to extend their winning-streak to 28 games and win their 1st back-to-back state championship in school history. Muskegon has appeared in 10 state final games and holds a 6-4 record in state final games.

Muskegon's playoff path features wins over; #27 Zeeland East, #69 Cedar Springs, #51 Grand Rapids Christian, and #66 East Grand Rapids.

The #5 ranked, Detroit King Crusaders enter Division 3 for the first time with an 11-2 record, their losses came from a beat down from Cass Tech in week 9 and a narrow 24-21 loss to Muskegon in week 2. King is 3-2 in state championship games and coincidentally lost to Muskegon 16-13 in the 1989 Class A State Championship game.

King's playoff path features wins over; #17 DeWitt, #70 Allen Park, #118 Warren Woods-Tower, and #16 River Rouge.

Following the regular season, Muskegon was the #2 ranked team in the state and #1 in Division 3 while King was the #5 ranked team in the state and #2 in Division 3.

Prediction: Muskegon by 2

Explanation: The Big Reds have been unstoppable this year besides for falling on a last minute muffed snap vs. King in week 2 to preserve a 24-21 win. That's been Muskegon's only challenge this year and quarterback, Cameron Martinez has led the Big Reds to a record breaking season. This 7:30 pm game on Saturday night is always one of the most exciting games of the weekend and it has all of the makings for an incredible game between the top two teams in Division 3.

The 16-13 game was the 1989 season. Not the 1990 season.
