Prospects Recap from Harper Woods and River Rouge (Story)
This was a decisive Metro Conference game that wound up being a one-sided affair by the Panthers. With the Pioneers sitting out two QB's due to the ineligibility concerns, Harper Woods struggled to move the ball vs. Rouge's tough defensive front seven. In the end Rouge won by the score 35-7 courtesy of 3 touchdowns from Emanuel Ferguson.
We'll break down their performances below:
River Rouge:
2019 DE Ruke Orhorhoro - #3 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2019. Clemson commit. Orhorhoro didn't play much if any in this rainy Friday game that the DL clearly was fine without him.
2019 DE Jaylen Henderson - #76 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2019 was outstanding for the Panthers and his #55 uniform was involved in so many tackles, we noticed by the 2nd quarter that Henderson who is 6'5 260 lbs was having a great game and he didn't relent until the end. Henderson holds 3 offers.
2019 QB Emanuel Ferguson - #48 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2019 is a Dual-threat QB who is committed to Air Force. Ferguson thrashed the Pioneers all game long with some nice power runs where he still advanced despite contact. Ferguson was a warrior under tough weather conditions and delivered with 2 short rushing touchdowns and 1 short passing touchdown.
2019 ATH Daraun McKinney - #44 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2019 who is committed to Northern Illinois. McKinney had an interception and was flying around the whole game making plays for the Panthers. McKinney is a very dynamic athlete who is a home-run threat on special teams and was a key player in this game for Rouge.
2020 RB De'Andre Bulley - #24 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2020 holds 6 offers. Bulley was a bully to Harper Woods players on Friday with runs right up the gut and he had a few other powerful runs, leaving Pioneers behind him. Bulley had a nice run called back due to a penalty and he caught a 1 yard touchdown reception as well.
2019 WR/CB Kamal Hadden - #47 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2019 who is a Central Michigan commit. Was all over the field with some nice tackles and an interception. Hadden is a lengthy player who opposing offenses must be weary of.
2019 OC/DT Dontrell Walker is a 6'1 275 lbs interior mauler who gets it done on both side of the ball. Walker is strong off the snap and just eats up opposing lineman. Committed to Davenport the day before the game, he's there first commit in the Class of 2019.
2020 CB David Carter Jr - #37 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2020 holds 4 offers and was covering HW's receivers tight all game and didn't back down physically from anyone. Carter had an interception.
2019 RB Caleef Jenkins is a tough runner at 5'11 225 lbs and he doesn't go down on first contact. The senior RB bust out some nice for the Panthers and added a touchdown.
2020 Slot Rmontate Caldwell is a 5'11 155 lbs Slot who had several big plays for the Panthers during the game. A speedy player who shifts gears well.
Harper Woods:
2019 WR/CB Elija Griffin is a 6' 175 lbs ATH prospect who is committed to Toledo and is the #35 ranked player in the Class of 2019. Griffin played some snaps at QB but stood out more on defensive side of the ball.
2019 DB/WR Jordan Anderson is the #46 ranked player in the Class of 2019 and the Bowling Green State commit played some QB as well for the Pioneers but the DB was a standout on defense with several nice tackles in space.
2019 LB/DE TJ Gunter is a well put together prospect with very good physical intangibles. Gunter had a very active night in getting to the ball and tackling a tough group of Rouge RB's and QB.
2019 WR/TE Chris Robinson is a 6'4 200 lbs receiver/tight end prospect who is a dangerous vertical threat and played hard until the end of the game. Robinson had a very nice touchdown in the corner of the endzone right before halftime. Robinson holds offers from Central Michigan, Concord, and Faulkner.
2019 S/RB Keambiroiro Perdue is committed to Ferris State. The 5'9 180 lbs Perdue mostly stood out on offense with some snaps at quarterback and some at RB where he did all he could to dodge Rouge defenders who were frequently in the backfield.
2021 OC Davion Weatherspoon is a 6'2 285 lbs Center for the Pioneers and is ranked already as the #10 player in the class of 2021. Weatherspoon had his work cut out with at least 3 different players who played quarterback during the night. We can't recall any bad snaps and Weatherspoon did well leading the OL vs. a tough Rouge defensive line.
