Prospects Recap from Flint vs. Flint Beecher (Story)
Flint Beecher and Flint at times was downright tough to watch, but Flint Beecher's defense at times was a thing of beauty.
We'll review some of the top players from the game:
Flint Beecher:
Everything in this game, started and ended with Flint Beecher 2020 WR/S Earnest Sanders. Sanders who is ranked #12 in the Class of 2020, had some early season rust moments, but they hardily cast a shadow over his big game. On the Bucs first passing play, it was a well executed slant reception by Sanders. He didn't cross the goal line until the 2nd quarter, when he came in motion on a jet sweep and once he hit the corner, he breezed into the end zone from 20 yards out. Sanders also caught a fade in the endzone over 2 defenders and in the 4th quarter, running a post route on what appeared double coverage for sure & possibly triple coverage, Sanders won a jump ball and stumbled, before reaching out to the end zone, he was ruled a yard short. Later in the game, Sanders was coming up to make a strong tackle, but instead ripped out the ball for arguably an interception or forced fumble/recovery.
- Beecher Coach Courtney Hawkins a 9 year NFL player, said after the game - he's confident Sanders will be hearing from just about everyone in the country following his junior season.
2019 DE Azonte Burks is a powerful 6'2 250 lbs prospect who has an early offer from Lawrence Tech and is drawing more NAIA and D2 interest. Burks was involved in several QB pressures, sacks, and tackles and made life miserable all day for the Flint OL and QB - Wallace.
If what 2022 OT Devin Runnels displayed on Thursday was a sign of things to come, bad news is on the way for opposing defensive lineman. The 6'5 308 lbs Freshman got the start and at times was impressive, with good athleticism.
Flint:
2019 ATH Zameer Wallace kept the Jaguars in this game as much as he could. Wallace who appears to be around 5'11 160 lbs, was making plays on his feet all day and some nice plays defensively. Wallace was also the Jags punter.
