Game Preview and Prospects The D Zone will be seeing in Country Day and South Lyon (Story)
It doesn't get more evenly matched than this as #30 South Lyon hosts #29 Country Day. CD is the defending Division 4 State Champs and have rolled through their competition thus far. South Lyon on the other hand opened a lot of eyes with their comfortable win over Walled Lake Western and 2 blowout wins since.
Below are the prospects we're aware of entering the game. We look forward to discovering more talent.
Country Day:
2022 QB/S Brandon Mann - Is arguably the best quarterback in the state and he's equally as good at Safety. The 6'4 225 lbs Mann can make all of the throws and is tremendous when passing on the run. He even punts too.
2022 RB Luke Ammori - A powerful RB who often doesn't go down on first contact. Has tremendous balance and has good football speed.
2022 WR/S Cole Wilhelmi - A long and lengthy player with good hands and ball skills. Emerged last year as a major weapon on offense.
2024 RB/OLB Gabriel Winowich - Immediately made his impact last year with significant time played as a freshman. Athletic player who is also a threat catching the ball.
2022 MLB Caleb Miller - Has always been a standout each time we saw them last year. He gets to the ball fast and is a sure-tackler.
2022 Slot Parker Yeargo - Shifty playmaker who is a big-play threat on the ground or through the air.
2022 CB Jamal Newberry - A nice cover corner who can play well in man coverage and can tackle in the open field well.
South Lyon:
2022 WR/S Quinn Fracassi - 6'1 receiver with tremendous talent and ball-skills. He set the single-season record for receptions last season despite the shortened season. He scored a 99-yard kickoff return in week 1 this year. He was impressive each time we saw him in the off-season too.
2022 CB Dakota Blackwell - 6'1 CB who can make some incredible plays while in coverage. He had several highlight leaping interceptions last year and hits like a Safety coming downhill.
2022 QB Dawson Skupin - An interesting QB prospect at 6'4 180 who is going to play himself into getting a lot of attention this year. He's been hot to start the year and he's making great throws routinely. He throws well on the run too which makes up a lot of their offense, since he's also a threat to run.
2022 MLB/TE Nathan Grooters - Made a living in the opposing backfield last season as he's a tough and relentless player. He sheds blocks well and can get to the outside to make tackles around the sideline and open field.
2023 RB/S Tommy Donovan - A very good cut-and-go RB who runs with a purpose and can make people miss in space. Very good reactions and tackler as a Safety as well. 5'11 175.
2023 K/WR/DB Alexander Stoyanovich - Will be a prospect for kicking, but also is a dangerous weapon for the offense when the ball is in his hands.
2022 CB Colin Stewart - Aggressive and strong DB who does well in coverage, but has good run support and is a very solid tackler.
