East Lansing's Jaida Hampton wins 2018 Miss Basketball Award (Story)

East Lansing 2018 G Jaida Hampton won the Miss Basketball Award that is decided by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan on Friday afternoon.

Hampton who is 5'11 and heading to Wichita State to play Basketball received 2,688 points which were over 200 more than the runner-up Camree Clegg of Wayne Memorial.

Hampton is averaging 16 points and 5 rebounds per game this season. East Lansing is 24-0 and will play Muskegon on Tuesday in the Quarterfinals.

The D Zone covered Hampton and her team's win over Coldwater in the Regional Championship on Thursday as Hampton had a huge impact in the game with 14 points, several assists, and rebounds throughout the game.

Hampton was spectacular in creating separation and had "And One" basket late in the 3rd quarter that drained Coldwater, as East Lansing maintained a double-digit lead following that sequence.
