Division 4 Predictions for Round 2 / Overview
Division 4 Round 2 Overview: The biggest storyline in the state might be Chelsea hosting River Rouge. The Panthers of River Rouge beat Chelsea in the Prep Kickoff Classic in 2016 only to be told a few weeks later that Chelsea reported an ineligible player on River Rouge, resulting in a Chelsea win by forfeit. Who knew just 1 year later the two teams would meet again.
Region 1:
District 1 - Alma at Escanaba: Alma will head to the UP on Friday to play Escanaba who eliminated them from the playoffs last season, 31-13.
Prediction: Escanaba 28-18
District 2 - Williamston at Notre Dame Prep: NDP is fresh off a big win over Goodrich and Williamston is as well over Lake Fenton.
Prediction: Notre Dame Prep 21-15
Region 2:
District 1 - Comstock Park at Belding: CP scored a ton in the 2nd half last week but Belding is a strong team and has a high-powered offense that can pump out points for 4 quarters.
Prediction: Belding 31-24
District 2 - #18 Grand Rapids Catholic Central at Kelloggsville: You may be shocked to see GRCC on the road early but don't fret as they'll have homefield vs. Belding or Comstock Park.
Prediction: Grand Rapids Catholic Central 49-21
Region 3:
District 1 - Three Rivers at Edwardsburg: We didn't see the Eddies losing in the regular season but they did in week 6 to Three Rivers 21-18. Expecting Edwardsburg to get revenge on the Wildcats.
Prediction: Edwardsburg 37-24
District 2 - Lansing Sexton at Plainwell: Nobody wants to face Sexton in D4. They played mostly all D1 teams during the year so are prepared for anything despite 3 losses.
Prediction: Lansing Sexton 27-13
Region 3:
District 1 - #20 River Rouge at Chelsea: As mentioned above there is a lot of hard feelings towards the other program. Unfortunately this meeting is being talked about the off-field dynamic instead of what will happen on Friday night. It should be a great game with two very strong programs colliding with high emotions.
Prediction: River Rouge 13-8
District 2 - Mumford at Cranbrook: A nice 2pm game on Saturday will take place between these two teams. Mumford hasn't been too hot but picked up a key playoff win, while Cranbrook's only loss is to Divine Child.
Prediction: Cranbrook 17-6
