Cranbrook’s late charge not enough, falls to Cardinal Mooney 60-53.
The Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Cranes lost a home game with the Marine City Cardinal Mooney Cardinals 60-53 yesterday. The loss drops Cranbrook to 1-6 on the season, with Cardinal Mooney moving to 7-3 this year.
Freshman Charlie Song had 14 points to lead Cranes in scoring. Junior Evan Evans and Sophomore Cooper Gurman both had 11 points to add to the point total. Junior John Kersh had 10 rebounds in the effort.
Junior Trent Rice led the Cardinals with 15 points, while Junior Ryan Trombley and Sophomore Brian Everhart both added 13 points in the victory. Junior Dominic Cattiivera had a double-double with 10 points and 17 rebounds.
Cardinal Mooney held on to a 30-14 lead at the half in the CHSL Intersectional I matchup, with Cranbrook having a dismal second quarter.
The Cranes turned it around after half time, outscoring the Cardinals in the second half 39-30, but falling short of the points needed to capture a victory.
The Cranes move on to face Royal Oak Shrine on the road Tuesday, while Cardinal Mooney hosts Bishop Foley in CHSL prep action.
