The Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Cranes lost to the Riverview Gabriel Richard Pioneers 75-50 in the CHSL semi-final matchup on Wednesday. The Cranes fall to 13-5 overall, while the Pioneers move to 17-1 on the season.

Cranbrook junior guard Cam Garner led the Cranes scoring with 15 points.

Richard senior guard Robbie Henderson led all scorers with 23 points and junior guard Michael Holdsclaw added 22 points in the win.

Richard jumped out to a 17-14 lead in the first quarter, with Henderson leading the charge for the Pioneers.

Junior center Bryce Hall and senior forward Sam Hauxwell kept the Cranes in the game with low post scoring and several free throws of their own.

Freshman John Kerch made his presence known in the second quarter, hitting a field goal and a free throw to keep the Cranes on the flight plan.

But Holdsclaw, who shot 90% on free throws in the game, sank six straight from the charity stripe to keep the Pioneers’ lead.

Cranbrook trailed 32-23 at the half.

Henderson kept the momentum going for Richard in the third quarter sinking a pair of 3- pointers, even as sophomore forward Michael Calhoun caught fire for the Pioneers.

Senior Jack Fairman sought to keep the Cranes in the game, but the Pioneer began to open a lead that they would not relinquish.

The game stood at 53-37 Richard at the end of three quarters.

Garner rallied Cranbrook in the fourth quarter scoring with several field goals, offensive rebounds, and blocked shots. Kersh added a big 3 pointer, but it was not enough to overtake the Pioneers.

The scoreboard showed 75-50 at the Richard victory at the final buzzer.

Cranbrook will face Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes in a CHSL crossover match up on March 3, 2020. The game will be held on the Cranbrook campus in the Keppel Gymnasium.

Tip-off is at 7:00 p.m.
