Cranbrook comes up short against Shrine 55-36 on Senior Night.
The Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Cranes lost a home game to the Royal Oak Shrine Knights 55-36 yesterday. Shrine sweeps the head-to-head series against Cranbrook for the 2021-2022 season.
Senior Benjamin McCaskill led the scoring for Cranbrook with junior John Kersh adding significant points and rebounds in the effort for the Cranes.
Senior Stephen Ruhle led the Knights with double figures in points and rebounds, with senior Jeffery Andrus adding relevant points in the Knights victory
Cranbrook established an early lead with McCaskill and senior Ethan Peruski getting shots in the paint.
But Shrine rallied behind 3-pointers by Ruhle and Andrus to have a 27-17 lead at the half.
The Cranes pushed the issue in the third quarter with junior Bora Akgun scoring from the low post. Sophomore Cooper Gurman added a 3-pointer from the corner to help the team keep pace.
But the Knights pulled away in the final quarter as the Cranes could not sustain their momentum.
The Cranbrook seniors and their families were saluted for their hard work and dedication to the program.
The Cranes move on to host Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest at home in non-conference action.
