Cranbrook climbs past Clawson 61-41, marches to second round of MHSAA playoffs.
The Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Cranes defeated the Clawson Tigers 61-41 last night.
Junior Evan Evans led the Cranes with 26 points. Junior John Kersh posted 19 points to assist in the win.
The Cranes got off to a slow start, trailing for most of the first quarter.
But the second quarter saw Evans and Kersh heat up with key points from beyond the arc for the Cranes. Several catch and shoot points added to the Cranes 21-point quarter.
Cranbrook led 35-22 at the half.
Both teams pushed the game in the 3rd period with several jump shots falling on both ends. Sophomore Cooper Gurman buried a 3-pointer from the corner to counter the Tigers.
The Cranes led 47-32 at the end of the third quarter.
Cranbrook closed out the game with steady shooting with Senior Ben McKaskill adding to the total.
The Cranes will prepare for the second round of the MHSAA State tournament, drawing Warren Michigan Collegiate in the next contest. The game will be held March 9th at Notre Dame Prep. Tip-off is at 7:00 p.m.
