Bridgeport's team effort to leads to convincing 70-34 win over Birch Run
The Bridgeport Bearcats opened the night by congratulating Charles "Tre" Garrett on his milestone of 1,000+ varsity points.
For the Bridgeport fans and players, the celebration was only getting started as the Bearcats were aggressive on defense from start to finish. They caused several turnovers and back court violations. Bridgeport held Birch Run to just 13 points in the first half and it would have been 10 if not a for a late 3-pointer.
Bridgeport forced Birch Run to take low percentage shots and on offense they moved the ball all over the court until a lane opened and the players did the rest from there with easy layups or assists.
It was clear from the start that the Bridgeport players were playing for each other instead of as individuals, twice during the game Bridgeport players wound up in the crowd/bleachers trying to save balls from going out of bounds.
Bridgeport was very effective with everything they did, Charles Garrett had 24 points in the win including a nice slam dunk. 2019 G Markele Garrett added 16 points.
Bridgeport will look to keep it going strong vs. Essexville-Garber on Friday and Birch Run will look to regroup when they host Millington.
