Beecher and Hamady will be limiting the number of spectators for their January 10th match-up (Story)
Beecher and Hamady will be limiting the number of spectators for the second time this school-year when they meet on January 10th, 2023 for a boys basketball game. When the teams met during the football season the school district limited the number of fans allowed to view their week 5 homecoming matchup.
In week 4, students at Flint High School and Beecher fought in the stands forcing the football game to be called at halftime.
There's been no documented crowd problems between Hamady and Beecher since 2017 when there was a postgame shooting in the parking lot.
The below text is from the Beecher School District:
"Our number 1 goal at sporting events is the safety for all spectators/visitors and above all the student athletes. Administrators from both Beecher and Hamady have made the decision to limit the number of spectators at the Hamady vs Beecher Basketball Game on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.
This decision was made based upon the recent events between students at both schools, as well as other schools in the area.
From this decision we have decided on the following:
Hamady will not allow student spectators from Beecher High School at this event. This includes students accompanied by an adult.
All players listed on the rosters (JV Boys/Varsity Boys/Girls Basketball) will receive 2 adult tickets only.
Tickets will be available to purchase ($5 cash only) to an adult on Monday afternoon only in the Beecher High School front office (No tickets sales on Tuesday).
Good sportsmanship builds teamwork, character, and teaches respect, honor, discipline, kindness, inclusion, resilience, perseverance, and more. The benefits of good sportsmanship are many. When kids enjoy active play, they look forward to sports and exercise as a chance to make new friends and develop new skills. We look forward to building a better bond between the two communities as we continue to strive for excellence both on and off the field."
