In a game that has had close finishes the past 3 years, it was anything but close on Friday night as Anchor Bay snapped a game 5 game losing streak to their hated neighbors, L'Anse Creuse North.

For Anchor Bay its the first time they start 3-0 since 2004, but it means little at this point as they'll likely need 6 wins to secure a playoff birth. The last time LCN was 0-3 was in 2011 when they were in midst of a 19 game losing streak.

Despite a scoreless first quarter Anchor Bay was setting in place 2 important keys to success: 1. Winning the line of scrimmage, getting pressure on star QB Blake Daniels, and not allowing the offense to move the chains. 2. Control the ball on offense and keep an offense capable of big plays, off of the field.

Anchor Bay led by 2018 QB Troy Bondar and a host of RB's; 2019 RB/S Mike Harper and 2018 RB/DB Jake Paul kept moving the chains and ball downfield until finally on the first play of the 2nd quarter Bondar struck for a rushing touchdown to give AB the 7-0 lead.

The Tars would keep the momentum rolling as a chip shot kickoff was recovered by Anchor Bay in the redzone. Anchor Bay's Mike Harper would have a receiving touchdown and a rushing touchdown in 2 of 3 plays but both plays were negated by referee flags and Anchor Bay eventually was backed up on 4th and goal, then turned the ball over on downs.

Anchor Bay would continue to dominate defensively and scored the last points of the 2nd quarter with 2:50 remaining with Jake Paul scampering in from a few yards out to make the score 14-0.

39 seconds into the 3rd quarter, Anchor Bay struck when 2019 RB/S Mike Harper stepped in front of a Blake Daniels pass and intercepted it for a pick-six, making the score 21-0. Harper at times was the best player on the field as he had some huge plays offensively and also was flying around on defense, making plays.

Anchor Bay struck for gold on their following offensive possession when Bondar dropped back and found his speedy junior receiver Dante Bassham for a 70 yard touchdown reception.

Bondar would later strike with a 21 yard touchdown run to make the score 33-0 midway through the 3rd quarter.

2019 RB Bryce Heaney capped the scoring off in the final 2 minutes of the game with a smashmouth touchdown run from 21 yards out.

L'Anse Creuse North didn't cross midfield until a penalty on the final kickoff of the game, added 15 yards from an unsportsmanslike penalty.

L'Anse Creuse North's linebackers were the most active in their 3-4 defense. 2018 LB/WR Myles McHaney, 2018 MLB Tadd Milavec, 2018 LB/RB Jake Tocco, and 2020 OLB Logan Simons had a nice game defensively.
